A lock that opens and closes once has not necessarily passed acceptance. Installation must match the approved preparation and work reliably through repeated complete door cycles.
What to confirm
Check alignment, clearances, latch engagement, fixing, handing and interaction with seals, closers and exit hardware. Test keys that should open the door and keys that should not.
A practical working method
For controlled doors, test normal entry and exit, invalid access, door-held and forced-door conditions, power loss, emergency inputs and manual procedures as applicable to the approved design.
Records, acceptance and handover
Sample testing should cover different door types and risks, not only random units. Hand over as-built records, key or credential information, maintenance guidance, outstanding issues and named responsibilities.
